Jabberwocky Illustrated Book

In the first trimester of my MA, for the self-directed project for the module Sequence and Series, I created an illustrated book of the 'Jabberwocky' poem. The nonsense poem was written by Lewis Carroll and is about the slaying of the monster, the Jabberwocky.
The final book includes fold-out pages and is hand-bound with a five-hole stab binding.
I wanted to move away from the Euro-centric depictions I have usually seen associated with the poem, seeking inspiration from Chinese and African-based fantasy and mythology. I tested bright colour schemes, incorporating the shadows as an additional character in the story. Using lessons from the MA, I played with different view-points, with omniscient views and testing various devises to tell the story.
